IS CHEF E A FORMALLY TRAINED CHEF?
Chef E is an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach with a certification from The Institute for Integrative Nutrition. She has been cooking her entire life and has studied cooking and health extensively. We love the fact that in order to make delicious food, you don’t have to be formally trained and we hope that this is an encouragement to all of you! Anyone can do it and that’s why we created New Leaf Table!
ARE THE VIDEOS AVAILABLE WITHOUT THE SUBSCRIPTION?
Yes! All of the videos for our recipes are on YouTube and you can access them here (make hyperlink to our youtube channel). We obviously hope you continue to subscribe to access all of our recipes and utilize the Amazon Fresh/Whole Foods ingredients linking feature but if you just want to watch the videos, you can see them all on YouTube!
ARE ALL YOUR RECIPES GLUTEN FREE?
Almost all of our recipes are gluten free due to the fact that the majority of products that include gluten are processed and we want to avoid that at all costs. If a recipe does have gluten, we will identify it and will only use products that are of the highest quality (e.g. Ezekiel Bread).
DO YOU HAVE MEAL PLANS FOR SPECIFIC DIETS?
While we do want to cater to food sensitivities for our customers, we at New Leaf Table do not prescribe to any specific diet. We believe a varietal diet is extremely beneficial and provides nutritional benefits across the board, some of which can be missed if you are dedicated to one specific type of diet. While there definitely is a time and place for many diets to fit what your body currently needs, we think you can’t go wrong with a balanced eating plan that includes all variety of whole foods. That’s part of why we created New Leaf Table! We want to teach people a lifestyle of healthy eating which isn’t diet specific. It’s just all around good for you!
DOES NEW LEAF TABLE CONNECT TO ANY OTHER GROCERY DELIVERY SERVICES BESIDES AMAZON FRESH AND WHOLE FOODS MARKET?
At this time, New Leaf Table only is able to connect with Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market. Because Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market deliver out of nation-wide distribution centers, they give us the best options for sourcing the healthy products we recommend for our meals.
WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE AMAZON FRESH OR WHOLE FOODS MARKET?
Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market comes as a feature of your Amazon Prime membership. If you do not have Amazon Prime, you unfortunately would not have the ability to get your New Leaf Table ingredients delivered through this resource. However, we hope you still utilize our weekly meals by buying the ingredients from your local market and following along with our videos. We have printable ingredients lists for each recipe to help you shop!
WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE THE COOKWARE OR UTENSILS I NEED TO COOK WITH?
Most of the dishes we cook can be made with standard kitchen devices but if there is a special or specific item you’ll need, we try to specify cookware and utensils we use in our "products used" section at the bottom of each recipe page as well identify alternative methods in the step-by-step video. Almost all products that we use can be found on the "Shop Chef E’s Favorite Things" page.
What if there are ingredients that I already have or don’t want in the recipe?
One of the great things about New Leaf Table is that you have complete autonomy over your grocery cart. Don’t like mushrooms? Just uncheck them on your automatically generated shopping list on Whole Foods or Amazon Fresh and leave them out! Already have limes? Uncheck them and leave them out of your cart. We have done our best to make the process as simple and easy as possible for you to have a delicious meal delivered to you just as you like it.
Do I have to utilize the delivery service feature?
No! You are free to get your ingredients any way that you would like! Amazon Fresh is delivery only but Whole Foods allows you to go to the store and pick everything up if you prefer to do so and skip out on the delivery fee. We also give you the ability to print out the ingredients list so you can go to the store and do the shopping on your own if you so desire.
After I add ingredients to my whole foods or amazon fresh shopping list, do I need to double check the items it sourced?
Since we are sourcing the ingredients from your local Whole Foods or Amazon Fresh distribution center, ingredients are subject to availability. While we have worked to source the best ingredients for your delicious meal, you will want to double check your Amazon shopping list to make sure that the right ingredient was sourced. If an item is unavailable, it will source the next closest item for you! However, sometimes the next closest item is not right for the recipe you are making so you’ll want to either leave that ingredient out or find a substitute that will work using the "swap" feature. In general, this only tends to happen with uncommon items, and we will list a possible sub in the ingredients list.
Do I need to worry about portion size when utilizing the Whole Foods and Amazon Fresh shopping cart feature?
We have done our best to source the exact portion size that is required for the recipe. In some cases, e.g. mushrooms, there may be 16 oz of mushrooms required but mushrooms generally come in 8 oz portions. We will then source two 8 oz mushroom packages for you. Unfortunately, there are some cases where you will have to buy a little more of one item than you actually need in your meal.
Does it make a difference if you get dried herbs instead of fresh herbs?
Many recipes will call for a fresh herbs that have a higher probability of being out of stock at your local Whole Foods or Amazon Fresh distribution center. When this is the case, Amazon will generally source the dried version of this herb which would fall into the category of a staple ingredient. It is recommended to be on the lookout for this because you may already have the dried ingredient in your own collection of herbs and spices. You can simply uncheck the item in your shopping list so you don’t double up your herb collection. While we love using fresh herbs in our recipes, using the dried herb as a substitute is totally fine and works to add that flavor to your dish in a very similar way than if you were to use the fresh herb.
What if my ingredient is sourced from the counter at Whole Foods?
For some recipes, meat or fish from the counter at Whole Foods is sourced as an ingredient. When this is the case, you’ll notice the item won’t add directly to your cart from your shopping list. This is due to Amazon not knowing what quantity to put in your cart. When this is the case, simply click the “Add selected items to cart” button so that all of your other ingredients are placed in your cart first. Then click on the counter item that was not added. You’ll then be able to select your quantity and add it to your cart from the counter item’s Amazon page.
WHEN DO I GET MY WEEKLY RECIPES?
Your 4 weekly recipes will be available on Saturday or Sunday prior to the week beginning. We do our best to put them out before noon on Sunday so you can do your shopping for the week but we also hope that the Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market connection helps alleviate some of the stress of meal prep/grocery shopping all on Sunday.
